EXPERIENCE:
My professional career encompasses over twenty five years of experience
in improving the energy productivity
of residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. My expertise
includes heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), co-generation
(CHP), central plant design, energy productivity project pre-development,
concept design, detail design, installation, and operations.
- As a Consulting Engineer and Energy Services Provider,
I have managed the pre-project development, concept design,
detail design, specification writing, equipment selection, construction
management, start-up, and efficient operations of complete HVAC
systems, including large central plants, and facility utility
distribution systems. I have negotiated a number of utility
purchasing agreements for natural gas, oil, steam, chilled water
and electricity.
a. Central Chiller Plants
- 750 to 4,000 ton electric centrifugal plants for hospitals
and military bases
- 2,000,000 gallon chilled water storage system for a military
base
- 1,500 ton gas fired chiller/heater plant for a retirement
community

- 1,000 BHP landfill gas plant for a military base
c. Whole Building Energy Productivity
- 300,000 Sq.Ft. office building in NYC project included
1,000 ton chiller plant, modular high efficiency natural gas
heating boilers, recommissioning of EMS system, variable speed
drives, heat recovery, premium efficiency electric motors
d. 150,000 Sq.Ft. historic rehabilitation of
manufacturing space into office space
e. Micro-gen
- 150 kW natural gas engine driven micro-gen for an apartment
building
- As Corporate Energy Manager, I have
managed design and construction of new facilities, managed utility
bill databases, implemented energy productivity programs, applied
for utility rebates, negotiated utility purchase agreements,
etc.
a. 16,000 dwelling units in over 60 locations, four central
plants, two assisted living facilities, three nursing homes,
corporate office building (30,000 Sq.Ft.), food service for
6,000 dwelling units
- As a Construction Manager, my experience
includes all phases from contractor selection, contract documentation,
shop drawing review, requests for information, final punch out,
and commissioning of installations.
- As a Renewable Project Developer,
I have performed pre-development economic and project practicality
studies. I have researched incentive financing options.
- a. Pre-development study of a 125 kW hydroelectric plant
for a municipal water treatment plant.
- b. Developing a 1 to 2 kW solar photovoltaic project for
a small commercial site on a town main street. Making application
to the Massachusetts Technological Collaborative for incentive
financing.
