FRIENDS & RELATIVES
My older brother Andy Gassmann has finally started his web page. Andy, a retired math, science and astronomy teacher, lives in Castle Rock, Colorado which is south of Denver. He loves computers but in the warm weather, gardening and astronomy interests keep him busy outdoors. He is one of the experts at the "Ask Me" site in the area of astronomy and mathematics. Log on there so get answers to your questions. Andy taught English in Slovakia several years ago and has many interesting things to tell. I know as soon as the snow flies, he will spend time indoors working on his web page. I am looking forward to the addition of the Slovakia segment.
Andy's recent endeavour is building a single seat FireFly Ultralight plane. I think that this will be a fun hobby!
My brother, Dick Gassmann is a retired school principal and has always been very active in civic affairs. He was instrumental in organizing and outfitting a new recreational park in Matamoras, PA. A new soccer field, Pavilion and the skating rink are recent additions. A Veterns Memorial Park is under construction honoring veterans of all wars. He has recently become his town's mayor.
Dick has also started and maintains the Matamoras Alumni page. Current information, class lists, emails, photos, features, obituaries and missing alumni are some of the areas to explore. He invites all alumnus to participate. The most recent addition is a chat area where he hopes that all who are interested will start getting together. We have been meeting regularly in the chat area at 9:00 AM Sunday mornings.
Dick's son Bob Gassmann teaches radio and television broadcasting at Herkimer college in Herkimer, NY. He has recently become department chair for their brand new Professional and Technical Communications curriculum which goes on line this fall. It encompasses traditional communications, technologies (audio, video, photography), writing, technical writing, computer software applications, multimedia authoring, etc.
Please visit Dave Ralston's web page. It is always innovative and ever changing. Dave works at Xavier University in Cincinnati. He is very interested in genealogy, photography and Xavier University sports among other things. You will find much to see and do here.
Dagmar and Tibor two friends who live in Slovakia were in the USA in 1995. They visited a couple of days with my brother in Colorado and a couple of days with us when we lived in Kentucky. We really enjoyed meeting them in person after the IRC visits that we had enjoyed. They were married in October 1996. This link shows two of their wedding pictures and will help you be better acquainted with them.
