Welcome to the Golden Gate Area of Nar-Anon Family Groups, covering San Francisco and Marin Counties.
We are a 12-step support group associated with the Northern California Region of Nar-Anon Family Groups and the Nar-Anon Family Groups World Service.
Our meetings are self-help support groups where each of us shares our experience in dealing with addiction and drug abuse in our friends, family, or co-workers. We learn through each other's experience, and through our literature written by other Nar-Anon members (and from similar 12-step groups). We practice the same Twelve Steps as Narcotics Anonymous so that we can learn how to better our lives in spite of the problems caused by the drugs. While we work in a similar way, we are completely independent from Narcotics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and other organizations
We do not have professional therapists or "experts". We simply learn from each other's experience -- the kind of experience that only a friend or family member of an addict can have. We do not have dues, but collect voluntary donations to cover our cost of rent, literature, phone, support the Northern California Region, and support the World Service Office. Anyone who has a close friend or family member with drug problem is welcome to attend our meetings.
