The main purpose of this meeting is continue our planning for meetings and events for the 2003-2004 Year. Our official visit is currently scheduled for Friday, April 30, 2004. We will also be planning a social for April 5th or 6th for Deniz Bettencourt. It will be an opportunity for everyone to wish Deniz to get well. If you want tobe on the call back list, call (714)832-8503. Deniz is currently recovering from his recent surgery (I am uncertain of the details). Deniz has supported a lot of local Portuguese groups. It will be an opportunty for all of us to show our support for Deniz.

Business meeting and 80th birthday party for Denis Bettencourt.
If you want to eat dinner, come about 7:00 pm and sit where you will. You pay for your dinner, as it is Dinis' 80th birthday, the council pays for his, & his family's dinner.
About 8 pm we will have a short business meeting on the patio, followed by our birthday party for Denis Bettencourt. Refreshments & cake free. Bring a coat because it might be a bit cool on the patio. If it rains we will figure something out. A small gift for Denis is ok, but your presence for the birthday celebration is more precious. Denis Bettencourt has generously supported almost every Portuguese organization in the Southern California area over the years. For IDES Council 170, he has held almost all of the offices over the years. Denis is like Council 170's God Parent. In addition Denis has been an IDES member since before 1940 and a veteran of overseas service.- ..
