Welcome!
This page is devoted to the BBS Door game known as LOD (Land of Devastation):
In particular its offical newsletter which I edit. The LOD News is distributed
both seperately and as part of the main files for the door, and consists
largely of the submissions of the game's fans. As usual, we are accepting
submissions
for inclusion in the next issue (#7 at this time).
In case your didn't know, LOD itself is a game door written by one Scott
Baker: A game that you play by logging into a BBS and choosing an appropriate
menu option. It focuses on the efforts of the soldiers of Sacre Base, a
military installation that survived a future nuclear holocaust, to regain
the pieces of the Puritron. This supreme piece of technology is capable
of removing the radiation and poisons in the entire Sacre region, but unfortunately
was captured and broken into 9 pieces before activation. Mutants, cyborgs,
genetically engineered monsters, gangs of survivors, and even aliens stand
between the recruits and their goal.
In addition to this engaging plot and a well handled competition with
the other players to get the most parts first (but for the good of all
of course), LOD has the destinction of being one of the most costumisable
doors. Monsters, maps, what things say, graphics, and even quests can largely
be totally altered or even removed. These alterations can then be distributed
as 'datasets' to be used by others and keep the game fresh.
