Eligibility:

You must present a current USJF – USJI – USJA card.

USJF registration will be available at tournament

Rules:

Current IJF rules will be used with the following modifications. Pre 1994 rules regarding safety zones and out of bounds area. No chokes ages 12 and under. No arm bars under brown belt rank.

Awards:

All competitors in divisions 10 years old and under will receive an award for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. All others divisions awards for 1st, 2nd and 2 – 3rd places.

 

 

Directions To HCST Recreation Center

 

The Recreation Center is located just off Route 1&9, which becomes Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen. Turn at 85th street.  Hudson County School of Technology is your landmark. 

 

From NJ Turnpike

Take the turnpike to last toll (18W) and proceed to route 46 east, go ¼ mile to first exit (Grand Avenue).  Make a right on Grand Avenue.  At the end of Grand Avenue bear left. You will be on 1-9 South. Continue to 85th st.. Make a right turn on 85th street. Recreation Center is located at the bottom of the hill on the right side. 

 

From the Lincoln Tunnel

Take exit for 1&9 North and proceed to 85th street and make a left turn. Recreation Center is located at the bottom of the hill on the right side.

 

From the George Washington Bridge

Take exit for Route 46 West. Get off at Broad Ave exit. Go left onto Broad Avenue. At the end of Broad Avenue bear left. You will be on 1-9 South. Continue to 85th St. At 85th make a right. Recreation Center is located at the bottom of the hill on the right side.

Pee wee boys and girls 4-6 yrs                     9:00 - 9:30am

Boys and Girls 7-10yrs                               9:30 - 10:00am

Boys and Girls 11-16                                     10:3 0 - 11:00am

All M-F Seniors                                          12:30 - 1:00pm

 

Divisions

All contestants 4-10 will be matched as evenly as possible by age, weight, and belt, and will compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd within their 3 or 4 man pool.  All contestants in these divisions will receive an award.

WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE

 

In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way, including travel to and from in any Judo tournament, practice, clinic, and related events and activities (“Activity”) of the United States Judo Federation, Inc., USA Judo/United States Judo, Inc., United States Judo Association, Inc., Hudson Judo Yudanshakai, Inc., Hudson County Schools of Technology, and the Tech Judo Club, I agree:

 

      1.   I understand the nature of Judo activities and believe I am qualified to participate in such Activity.  I also understand the rules governing the sport of Judo.

      2.   I further acknowledge that prior to participating, I will inspect the mats, equipment, facilities, competition pools or divisions, and the elimination or scoring system to be used, and if I believe anything is unsafe or beyond my capability, I will immediately advise my coach, supervisor, and/or a tournament official of such conditions and refuse to participate.

      3.   I acknowledge and fully understand that I will be engaging in a contact sport that might result in serious injury, illness or disease, including permanent disability or death, and severe social and economic losses due not only to my own actions, inactions or negligence, but also to the actions, inactions, or negligence of others, the rules of the sport of Judo, or conditions of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, I acknowledge that there may be other risks not known to me or not reasonably foreseeable at this time.

      4.   Knowing the risks involved in the sport of Judo, I assume all such risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, illness, disease, permanent disability, or death.

      5.   I hereby release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue the United States Judo Federation, Inc., USA Judo/United States Judo, Inc., United States Judo Association, Inc., Hudson Judo Yudanshakai, Inc., Hudson County Schools of Technology, and the Tech Judo Club, together with their affiliated clubs, their respective administrators, directors, officers, agents, coaches, and other employees or volunteers of the organization, event officials, medical personnel, other participants, their parents, legal guardians, supervisors and coaches, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners, lessors, and lessees of premises used in conducting the event, all of whom are hereinafter referred to as "Releasees", from any and all litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss, liability, damage or costs on account of injury, illness, disease, including permanent disability and death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the  negligent acts or omissions of the Releasees or otherwise to the fullest extent permitted by law.

I HAVE READ THE ABOVE WARNING, WAIVER, AND RELEASE, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND KNOWING THIS, SIGN IT VOLUNTARILY AND WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT OR ASSURANCE OF ANY NATURE.
