First, all the foods I use are only foods I would be willing to eat. If for any reason I question the quality of the food, I don't use it.
Vegetables are washed with a vegetable wash, then are usually briefly steamed in a microwave. The texture of the cooked food is still firm to hard. As an example, broccoli will be cooked for two minutes and ten seconds at 40% power. Occasionally, vegetables are served raw, but have been warmed by running hot water from the sink over them.
Meats are either cooked on a grill or sauted with some olive oil. After cutting off a piece of the cooked meat, I remove the outer layer and only use meat that is well cooked with no pink showing.
Seafood is either steamed or sauted with some olive oil.
Fruit is washed with a vegetable wash. The fruit is then served raw.
All cooked foods are prepared with minimal or no spices. Sauces, with the exception of tomato sauce, are not added to what Pepper receives. All his foods are served without salt or butter.
Food is cut into small, usually bite-size pieces. Often these pieces are chopped into smaller than one-eighth inch cubes.
