Welcome
Seneca Valley Crafts is a family owned business located in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of New York State. Nestled
in the hills surrounding Seneca Lake and Watkins Glen, gives us the inspiration for our work.
As you browse through our web site you will find one-of-a-kind items made from a variety of mediums. We use twigs, grapevines,
old barn boards, recycled lumber, rope, twisted raffia, fabric, yarns..just about anything that can be used to make our
rustic Adirondack folk art, Americana primitives, vases, bowls, baskets, trays, etc. Many of our designs and colors are inspired
by Native American Designs and Mother Nature.
We also use parts of vintage/antique furniture such as legs, drawer fronts, chair seats as a medium for unique decor
such as shelves, candle holders, quilt holders and stands. Salvaged boards from old barns and buildings are used for
small furniture or Americana items such as lighted and unlighted birdhouses, wall coat racks, turnings, chimney and other
small cabinets, etc... Adirondack folk art is usually Nature themed using birds, waterfowl, flowers, etc. Sometimes geometric
designs are also used.
We are very carbon print oriented. Our shop has many windows so natural light is mostly used. .It is heated with
a wood stove and uses fallen trees from our property for fuel. All the nails used for the folk art are put in one at a time
using a shoemaker's hammer. Even the paint we use is a water based acrylic. All lumber used is recycled and sometimes even
the large nails are straightened and reused.
Our rustic Adirondack folk art mostly uses boxwood elder and wild grapevines from our 12 acres. 6 of these acres are
kept natural and give shelter to many deer, rabbits, birds, turkeys, pheasant, quail, etc. Sometimes a mama bear and cub use
it as a temporary home.
Once in a while we have walking or power sticks gleaned from fallen trees on our property or nearby lands.
These may contain crystals, stones, leather lacings, etc as enhancements and make terrific display items. Other Native American
inspired items such as medicine bags are available.
We also maintain an organic giving garden that has blueberries, Niagara grapes, red and black raspberries, strawberries
and asparagus. Plus a seasonal planting of heirloom Brandywine tomatoes and others, red white and sometimes blue potatoes,
sweet potatoes, corn, swiss chard, canteloupe and watermelon, pole stringbeans, onion, bell peppers. All water used for the
garden comes from rain barrels. This giving garden allows us to donate fresh vegetables to those who cannot afford eating
healthy.
There is always something new on our site, please make this a favorite and visit us often.
