Information and Guidelines

 

The library media center at Sebastian River High School serves students from 9th – 12th grade, faculty, and staff.

 

Objectives of library media programs:

 

Library Hours:  SRHS media center is open from:

                                7:00 am - 5:00 pm - Mon, Thur, Fri

                                7:00 am - 3:00 pm. - Tu, We

 

Checkout:  Students may checkout three books at a time for a period of two weeks and these may be renewed for an additional week. Videos are available for teacher use only.

 

Overdue books: There is no fine for late materials. The media center prints out an overdue list and distributes this list to the teachers periodically. If a student has overdue books, he or she may not be able to attend activities such as fieldtrips, pep rallies, and other after school activities until the overdue books are returned. Students are responsible for lost and damaged books.

 

Student Access:  SRHS students have free access to the media center before and after school, and during lunch. All students must request a pass or must have their handbook signed by an administrator before coming to the media center. All students must sign in when not accompanied by a teacher. Students who want to use the media center after school do not need a pass but must sign in.

 

Internet Use:  Student must have an Internet sticker and sign in before using the computer. Internet use is limited to classroom projects and assignments only. Students may use the computers in the front section only when not accompanied by a teacher.

 

Printing:  Students may print from the Internet or Word document, or make copies for a cost of five cents per page.

 

Collection:  SRHS has approximately 24,000  books which can be accessed online using our online cataloging program called Destiny. Students can search by title, author, keyword, subject, or lexile level. Our collection includes a wide variety of books including fiction, non-fiction, career, and reference books. We also have a collection of videos on different subjects for teacher’s use to support their teaching needs in the classroom.
