Diskinfo is a small utility program that shows a summary of used and available space on your hard drives.  The display is updated at regular intervals to reflect any changes.

Features:

  • Single .exe (no DLL's required)
  • Always on top option
  • Option to show values in Mb's only
  • Option for changing the update rate (ranging from 1 to 60 seconds, or 0 for no updating)
  • Option to copy information to the Windows clipboard
  • Shows last date of system backup in the About window (requires user identification of a file that is updated during the backup)
  • Option to run in automatic "silent" mode where output is just written to a user-specified text file (see below for further)
  • 32 bit program runs under Windows 95/98/NT

Using Diskinfo in Silent Mode:

This option will output the disk information to a user-specified text file.  The Diskinfo window will not appear on-screen and the program will exit automatically after the information is written to the file.  To use this feature, simply run the program (or create a shortcut) with the filespec of the text file immediately following the program name (separated by a space).

Example:  C:\Utilities\Diskinfo.exe C:\Data\Diskinfo.txt

If the specified file does not already exist, it will be created.  If it does exist, the data will be appended to the end of the file.   The data that's written to the file will have the same format and appearance as when you run the program in normal mode and use the Copy option to copy the information to the clipboard.
