LETTERS
From John R Leathers ..., March 30, 1999
I wanted to drop you a note and let you know how much we enjoyed the
event at Port Hudson. It was the first time for all of us to visit
the park and the first time for most of us to visit South Louisiana.
The weather was beautiful and the scenarios were great. I think a lot
of other events could learn a lesson or two on how to put on a good
scenario for the public from your event. Please express our gratitude
to all concerned in this event for allowing us to participate and for
doing such a great job.
Sincerely,
From Port Hudson SCA ..., April 2, 1999
Once again I want to thank you and the 8th Louisiana Infantry for a fine job. Mike, Cody,
Brent and I all agree that we have the best host unit possible. Thanks for all the help with pre-
registration, registration, planning great scenarios and executing the plan. The battles were great
and the public loved every minute. This year's reenactor attendance and public attendance were
much greater than last year. We suspect that we had about 550 living historians in attendance if
you count the dancers, band, sutlers, etc. Our jambalaya vendor served over 500 meals. Our
visitation for the two days was 3,534. That beat last year by about 600. We feel that we had a
great event.
We do hope to have the 8th host our event next year.
Sincerely,
Gregg Potts |
