CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL HALL
On Saturday, December 5, 1998 the restored battle flag of the 8th Louisiana Infantry was unveiled at Confederate Memorial Hall. This was the flag issued right after Gettysburg and was captured by Sgt. Otis Roberts of the 6th Maine at Rappahannock Station on the evening of November 7th, 1863. Wayne Cosby, Flag Adoption Chairman of the Memorial Hall Committee gave a rousing address among many guests attending the fund raiser. Lulie Cosby, Todd Cosby, Steven Driskell, and Paul Boudreaux, had the honor of unveiling the flag. A photograph of Christin Cosby was placed thoughtfully under the flag. I know she is proud of her father and is always in our heart. In addition, a painting of Jefferson Davis by Clyde Heron was unveiled. The painting was donated by Mr. Bryan Hutcheson.

Ninety thousand of their war-related documents are housed on permanent loan at Tulane University and are available for research purposes. Thanks to the foresight of these men and their descendents, their valuable relics and stories have been preserved for more than a century in this historic and hallowed museum. Memorial Hall is owned and operated by a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Civil War memorabilia, specifically related to the Confederacy and Louisiana. It subsists solely through funding obtained from admissions, gift shop profits, donations, and membership dues to the support organization, the Memorial Hall Foundation.
