Gentlemen,
The time is now to start our planning for Chickamuga. Logistics is the key to a successful event. I need to have a solid count from you on the number of troops you will be bringing. Do not pad the numbers. I need an accurate count. If a guy is iffy, do not count him. Your prompt response to this inquiry will be deeply appreciated.
Most of you will have Company meetings this month or next. Please pass on to your men that Chickamuga is a campaign style event. All preparation will need to be directed to that end. If anyone can not tolerate this, special arrangements will be made for camp space in the civilian area. I must be notified on this matter at least a 2 weeks prior to the event. Late comers may not be guaranteed a camp site. If any man in your Company requires special medication or has a potential for serious health problems, I would like for you to forward that information to the Battalion XO, Mr. Driskell. This way we do not have to hunt down individuals to handle a medical emergency if one should arise. Also upon arrival at the site, Please have each man put, in his haversack, his name and the name and phone number of an emergency contact. We want this to be a safe event but as we all know accidents can and do happen.
Gentlemen, this is the first step in making Chickamuga a memorable event for the Troops. With out them this would be just another camping trip.
As always, I remain your most humble servent,
Col. Michael E. Kloepfer
LA Battalion, Commanding
