Teach. Inspire. Serve.

I believe every parent is a Home Educator. Regardless of whether your child is taught at an out-of-state private academy, the local high school or your kitchen table, you'll always be your kid's most important and influential teacher.

Thanks for taking the time to consider sharing my perspective with your readers. The current Sample Column, anything from my Reprint List or a Freelance Article written fresh for your audience are available. Please contact me if you have any questions, comments or requests.

What's Available?

I write what I know: Kids, home education, having fun as a family. I offer a selection of evergreens plus a few seasonal ditties. They're ready when you are.

Here are some suggestions:

Let Them Get Board: Board Games for Kids
Bored with Summer? Give Board Games a Spin.
The next time your family is making a beeline toward the video game department of a toy store, try taking a detour into the board game section. You'll find plenty of old favorites and new variations.

Learning Styles: Tell Me, Show Me, Let Me Touch
"Just show me the picture," said my 12-year-old son as we tried to organize the 100+ parts for his new four-stroke, internal combustion engine model. I wanted to locate and arrange each plastic piece in numeric order and then read the entire 40-page instruction manual before starting to build. He just needed to see the diagrams. That's a visual learner for you.

Field Trips for Homeschoolers
Several years ago, I coordinated a field trip to an agri-tourism farm for my homeschool group. When it came time to do some pumpkin chunkin' (or flinging), the farmer asked the kids to line up to take turns shooting the sling-shot device. Instead of forming a long, snaking column, with only one child at its head, our children stood in a compact row, side-by-side, so everyone could see the action. I noticed an expression of momentary befuddlement on our docent's face.
