ALARM AND WAKING BED

U.S. Patent No. 325,437

And
EXCURSIONS

This is for the sleeper who turns off the usual alarm and dozes back to sleep.

An alarm clock is built into the headboard of the bed, which has the mattress frame hinged midway its length, so that the head part of the frame can be dropped to the floor.

A suspension cord Q secures the head of the mattress in normal, horizontal position when the alarm has been set.

Yep! When the alarm goes off, the suspension cord slackens, allowing the frame head to drop, and causing a rude awakening indeed, probably enriching the sleeper with a slipped disc or two.
