Simply put, this invention identifies the eggs of each hen so that production can be checked.
Fig. 1 shows the harness that is attached to the hen's vent. F is the marking device, carrying ink to mark the egg. The marking devices vary, each marker coded for each hen. D is an elastic band. E are the nasty fasteners that are secured to the muscles about the vent. See Fig. 5, which shows the assembly in place on the hen's vent; a candid shot. Fig 6 shows the emergent egg being identified. Other Figs. show variations on the main theme, but you get the idea. You may be sure that no hen stuck this idea in the suggestion box.
