ELECTRIC GENERATOR

ALARUMS

U.S. Patent No. 695,524

And
EXCURSIONS

The inventor's electric generator includes a chimney 1 connecting to a horizontal tube 2, a battery-driven electric heater 3, a fan 8, a dynamo 6, and a heat-deflecting plate, 5.

The battery-driven electric heater is mounted at the bottom of the chimney flue to heat the air and the deflecting plate is mounted next to it to prevent heated air from flowing out the horizontal tube.

As the heated air rises in the chimney, a draft is created that draws air in through the tube. The incoming air spins the blades of the fan, turning the dynamo shaft, thus generating electricity.

Maybe Rube Goldberg got his first ideas from this invention. It certainly is more colorful than just using the battery to light a bulb or run a motor.
