| Kristin has been a professional artist in the visual arts for over twenty-five years. Her background as an art director in advertising led her to rediscover colored pencil. Kristin works primarily with this versatile medium. She is able to achieve rich, complex imagery with colored pencil alone or by incorporating other mediums such as water-soluble wax crayon and pastel. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art from Western Washington University, Kristin continued her art education in Seattle and New York City. She is a Signature Member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and a juried member of the professional Women Painters of Washington organization. She has received recognition in galleries and juried art shows regionally and nationally, is published in Creative Colored Pencil and the first, second, third and fifth volumes of The Best of Colored Pencil. Kristin is an art instructor of the colored pencil medium and teaches all age groups. Artists Statement The elements of design that occur naturally in nature inspire me as I interpret onto paper the shapes, patterns, textures, colors and light of my subject matter. A personal vision gradually emerges calling attention to these relationships in a way that may otherwise go unnoticed. |
