Communications from the Web Design SIG website. ----------------------------------------------- ------------------Tue Sep 17 14:31:14 2002 name: Bruce subject: Test comments: This is finally working. It is a long story, but I am sure it will be worth it. Have fun! ------------------Wed Sep 18 05:25:20 2002 name: Gil subject: Hi SIG comments: This is a great tool for communicting. ------------------Wed Sep 18 14:39:45 2002 name: Gus subject: General comments: Bruce and all others, This is a great site and the messaging is a real nice feature. Hope to see everyone tomorrow so we can discuss all this progress! ------------------Wed Sep 18 16:33:36 2002 name: Margie subject: Site comments: The site is just great. Look forward to learning a lot from everyone. ------------------Thu Sep 19 12:22:53 2002 name: Bruce subject: Missing Slide comments: When I went to put the slide.htm file up on the website, it was already There. Yet we could not access it this morning, nor could you earlier. That is strange! [ Edit from home: The expected missing file was flowers.jpg in the /images folder. It was there on the website.] ------------------Thu Sep 19 12:25:00 2002 name: Bruce subject: Time Tag comments: I notice that the time tag on the comment is in PST -- three hours behind us! The last comment regarding the slide.htm was immediately availabe for viewing. The monkey worked that time! ------------------Thu Sep 19 12:26:27 2002 name: Bruce subject: My email comments: My email is not coming to me on time. I just got a message from Jenny that was sent on Tuesday. Hope that clears up soon. ------------------Thu Sep 19 13:05:03 2002 name: Bruce subject: Slide example comments: The problem is that the slide.htm contains a jpg which has the wrong path name. It has file:///E:/WebSite/SC%20SIG/images/flowers.jpg, which is my hard drive path, not the website. I tried creating the slide.htm again and with just /images/flowers.jpg, but that does not translate properly into http://home.earthlink.net/~saundershsd/images/flowers.jpg. I got the flowers picture at home, because it was on my hard drive. So I thought everything was OK. Still a lot to learn about debugging the web page! ------------------Thu Sep 19 18:20:00 2002 name: Gil subject: flowers.jpg comments: Bruce, You might try putting two slashes in the path name: //images/flowers.jpg The first slash backs up to your folder on the server ( or something like that). I have had the same problem on occasion and just added slashes until it worked. Gil ------------------Fri Sep 20 12:50:31 2002 name: Bruce subject: Slide comments: Gil, I tried a double slash when in FrontPage Express. The picture would not load. Anyway, I put a different slide as flowers.jpg, and changed my slide.htm (to alter the size). Then when I FTPed the two up, I transferred the jpg first, then the htm. This should not make any difference! Now the slide comes up correctly. Please try it to see. ------------------Sat Sep 21 08:25:00 2002 name: Bruce subject: New Link comments: Margie found a really good link for novice web designers -- see the Hot Link section. ------------------Sat Sep 21 08:27:59 2002 name: Bruce subject: Pop-Ups comments: Gil, I tried your link at the bottom of the montage. It creates a pop-up, as you said. However, I didn't see it as I just installed a Pop-Up Blocker. When I turned it off, the pop-up worked very well. After a while I even heard the "ding." ------------------Wed Sep 25 17:04:51 2002 name: Bruce subject: Sept 26 Meeting comments: Gil and I will demonstrate the following. FTP Program Making changes to a SC web page 'Include' code on SC web page Saving SC web page and sending it to Webmaster Or, in Gil's case, transfering it to SC website Demonstration of Windows Commander Bring lots of questions. ------------------Thu Dec 12 07:56:37 2002 name: Bruce subject: Test comments: This is a test from the SC. ------------------Sat Sep 4 13:15:54 2004 name: Gus subject: Expressing my surprise about this great tool! comments: Hey Bruce, I am preparing for my presentation and have discovered this great communications method. I see it has not been used since 2002. I think we have not given it enough publicity. I will certainly mention it at my presentation on 9/13/2004. We got a lot of work to do!
