SAN ANTONIO
SOLIDWORKS USERS GROUP
The torch was passed last night and no one got burned.
Anthony Gomez is the new President of the San Antonio SolidWorks Users Group.
Jim Lowery gave a presentation on FloXpress that
was well received. Chris Castle recapped the MLC Challenge contest and announced the winners. There was a tie
for first place so he brought 2 awesome video cards. 2nd place was 16GB flash drives. Great job Chris. Chris
also gave us a new challenge and since his handouts were not ready he will send us an email with an edrawings for those who
attended last night and I will get those sent along.
Corey Bower from Texas Engineering Systems unveiled
what's new with SolidWorks 2010. One new feature that caught my attention was Multibody sheet metal parts. There
were a host of other enhancements all designed to make our job easier. They (SolidWorks) are almost there at giving
us a "Do My Work For Me" button.
Thanks for a great 4 years

SW World 2009 & SASUG Latest News:
During our user group leader meeting on Wednesday, Richard Doyle
(SolidWorks User Group Network Coordinator) announced the SolidWorks Technical Summit Lineup for 2009. San Antonio is
on the list. The date is not firm yet but we think it will happen in the fall. If you have never been to a technical
summit, think of it as a tiny SolidWorks World with a general session and breakout classes to choose from. The
last one I attended in Houston was an all day event. More details to follow.
SolidWorks World 2009 was held in Orlando Florida at the Disney
Swan and Dolphin Resort. The Swan and Dolphin are 2 hotels separated by 200 yards with a scenic walkway between them.
Each hotel has a conference center on the ground floor, so we spent the week moving between them depending on where
your breakout session was held. I got lucky, on Tuesday all of my sessions were in the Dolphin and on Wednesday all
of my sessions were in the Swan. I found all of the sessions informative and well worth my time.
Tuesday Night the SolidWorks off site event was held at Disney's
Animal Kingdom. It is a large theme park with roller coasters, water slides and animatronic dinosaurs. There was
catered food in various places throughout the park. I looked everywhere but could not find any animals. Maybe
they were asleep?
While at SolidWorks World The group from ITM celebrated my 20th
anniversary with the company. My how time flies.
Speaking of flying, The partner pavilion showcases the latest
in design software and hardware along with things designed in SolidWorks. Below is a picture of a Jet Pack that flies
above water. It uses a long yellow tube to suck up water from the lake and squirt it back out the jet nozzles.

SolidWorks World will be in Anaheim California in 2010,
see you there
