snake

snake
so calm
so cool against my skin
as you coil around my arm

some kid caught you
down by the creek
and part of me enraptured
wants to keep you
another cringes at your capture
as my fingers clasp your head
what incarnation are you in
have you lain beneath my bed
how many times have we been kin
set me free instead you stare
your clear glassy eye
takes me where we connect
you and i
you slither in my brain
i'm in your head
and once again you are me

primally
