| Uyen's
and Travis' Wedding 2001
On
August 18, 2001, my friend Uyen (a.k.a. Christine) got married.
I've known Uyen since 1981, from the time her family first came
to the U.S. from Vietnam. It has been a blessing to be her friend
for so long, and it was wonderful to be invited to share this
special day with her and her groom, Travis. They had a basic Vietnamese
ceremony in the morning, with exquisite clothes ordered from Vietnam.
They had a traditional American wedding in the afternoon and a
reception in the evening. It was a beautiful series of events.

The
Vietnamese Ceremony

Uyen
wore red and Travis wore blue for the Vietnamese ceremony. These
colors are traditional, and they were even more vivid than this
picture indicates. I am on the left.
Uyen's
parents and Travis' mother introduced family and friends at the
Vietnamese ceremony, as part of the tradition. On the right, Uyen's
parents introduce their son, Thien. |

With
all the photographers around, members of the bridal party were posing
for lots of pictures! Here, the six bridesmaids (all in yellow) joined
the bride and groom for a photo. |

At

and participating in the service. |

This
photo (at left) is probably my favorite shot of the whole event.

Update
on Uyen and Travis: As of spring 2006, Uyen and Travis
have two little boys! Connor was born in April of 2004, and Colin
was born in October of 2005. They are darling! It's great to keep
up with their growth via photos.
