Welcome!

Thanks for visiting my website. My name is Sandy, and I'm a 30-something math geek who loves to praise God, play the piano, dance, take pictures, talk to animals, and generally enjoy a quiet but deliberate life.

This website has two purposes: (1) to help people in my life stay in touch with what I'm up to; and (2) to share the patient perspective on life with various medical conditions. Over the years, most of the visits to my website have been from people trying to find information about a medical condition that they or their loved one has been diagnosed with, and I know how much it means to find a patient's story that helps you know that someone understands and that things will be OK. It's my mission to be part of the solution in that way.

Here's a quick rundown of the contents:

  • What's New: sharing what's new on the site as well as sometimes the goings-on in my life
  • Medical: includes medical updates and a few essays that document my ongoing story.
  • Photos: pictures! Not as many as there have been at other times, but these are some highlights from recent years.
  • Random cool stuff: quotes, links, and total randomness.

I hope you enjoy the site. E-mail me if you have questions, comments, or want to be in touch.

About the seagull photo

I took the seagull picture in August 2005, on the shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is one of my favorite pictures that I've ever taken.
