Recent News Not too much happening around North Carolina during these hot, hot days of summer. Many folks are up north or traveling and won't return until after Labor Day has past. Hollyhocks Art Gallery in Pinehurst, NC, has re-opened after extensive renovations. I'm exhibiting all new artwork and will post when the re-opening reception will be held. The Arts Council of Moore County will be holding their annual Fine Arts Festival in August with the opening reception Friday, August 7th, from 6-8 PM. Continuing On...
Still Life paintings continued..... Rarely can a painting not be improved, at least mine can usually be. In this case, the painting "Creamer And Apples", finished a month or so ago from a photograph of mine, framed and exhibited, just did not have the essence of a good painting. So last week off came the frame and out came the paints. Both apples were repainted as well as their shadows. Highlights on the creamer with a touch of cadmium yellow pale and a stronger painting emerged. July 12, 2009 DK |
