| Stainless steel, heat treated and cleaver grinding |
In depth...
What a fun discovery, "painting" on stainless steel. It is done with a torch and several different grinding disks,
and then with lighter and heavier emphasis. First grinding, then torching then a little more grinding. The colors
are now part of the steel: golden and very light brown is very little heat, the more heat you get blues and purples and black.
What is most cool about this is to photograph it! The stainless steel is highly reflective and the light bounces off
the grinding etches. This means if you move the camera, and with it the flash just an inch, you get a totally different
picture! and none of the photos look like the original piece! and what a detailed photo it produces!
