I have a line of furniture, several styles and functions, some is really 'furniture' for plants, a place for them to sit, and others for you: mostly benches and tables and pedestals for your plants or your morning coffee.  Some are very inexpensive, pedestals starting at only $29 and some are a lot more, especially if I like them!  Sometimes it is difficult to put a price on what I have made.  If I did it by the hour it would not be affordable.  Some 'pieces' begin as very simple things and evolve to be something totally different.  Some I stop at simple and others I allow to grow.  Even simple things, like a $29 pedestal begin with an idea, lots of failures, finally a jig and then a better jig, and finally I can make them quickly.  The first one is never bought by anyone.

A lot of the work I do is "one of a kind"  There are several reasons for this and at the top of the list is the fact that I am not a fabricator and dislike mass-production.  Also, a lot of what I do is from "found" pieces and are simply not replicatable.  I couldn't make another if I wanted to.  This pedestal is mine and has a stainless steel top, my signiture curved legs, and an old post hole digger for added weight, (and a little different) at the base.  It is on my back porch and used as a table.

Slate and Travertine are mostly the stone I work with and use them often for table and bench tops.  I like the combination of stone and steel and think their strengths contribute to each other.  It is difficult to beat the color and durability of slate and, of course, it has its own history and I always wonder:  What was happening to the earth when this piece of slate was made?

Benches are inviting: Sit and rest and look around while I give you comfort.  A bench with a back is even more comfortable and inviting.  Stone tops allow the warmth of the sun without getting blistering hot.

3-tiered copper roof, my winning design amongst several entries.  Careful measurements on the job site and close attention during fabrication allowed for a three hour installation.  Looks great even three years later!

Gardens can be peaceful, artful and dynamic. They are shared art, an appreciation of being allowed to interfere with nature.
