The book is double bound, ie, a paper cover overlaid with a clear plastic cover, bound in the comb style so that it will lay flat for easier copying. Every effort has been made to create the look of the original document but in modern computerized type. Every entry has both the burial name as found on the marker (if pertinent), the date of the newspaper and the day of the week it was published. If it was reprinted from another newspaper and republished, this is noted as, Clarksville – . We have made every effort to use the spellings found on the microfilm so there is some inconsistency with present day spellings.

The book is printed in #9 font and we have made every effort to cut the size of the book to keep the cost down. The text only is 200 pages and there is not a lot of ‘white’ showing on the page. It is formatted in triple column. Covered are 2,003 obituaries in Red River County and 932 in Lamar County for a total of 2,935 entries.
