The Finished Trailer

Pic Eight. This is the inside showing the custom, removable picture frame holders. I use large pieces of cardboard to separate each framed piece and the carpet strip keeps the aluminum frames from getting scratched. I also made a spare tire mount on the inside wall.

I added two barrel bolts to the back, not so much for security, even though the big one on the bottom will take a padlock, but to add support to the door. (To expose the inside for the photo, the white rear sides are blown out, so there is little detail, but you can see the barrel bolts.) Should something fall against it from the inside, I'm hoping the extra bolts will keep anything from crashing through onto the highway. Note that the paneling on the door is just a piece of panel I had laying around. In order to match the rest of the trailer, I would have needed to buy another LP panel. Maybe later, after I sell some art.

There you have it. My little 157 pound trailer now weighs about 356 pounds (with the 20 lb. spare tire). And what started as a $161.99 trailer finally ended up costing $391.16 plus tax, PLUS another $49.99 for the spare tire. (I went to Harbor Freight with another 20% coupon to buy their $44.99 tire and wheel, and as usual, they didn’t have what I needed. So I went to a trailer store, they had the tire & wheel. It was more expensive, but the store is a couple of miles away and I’m tired of wasted drives to you-know-where.)
