The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination.

 

In principle and practice, the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund values and seeks diversity. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.

In the Salem County Branch, we hold an annual auction to make money for our donation to the Legal Advocacy Fund. Each member in attendance brings one (or more) gifts, wrapped and with a poem or clue to the contents. Each gift is auctioned off. Sometimes, the gift is a white elephant, sometimes a new item and occassionally a joke item. This is one of our most interesting meetings of the year and everyone looks forward to it.
