Projects
This winter one of the many projects going on is to repair the cracked center board. Below is a picture of the
board. She cracked horizontally down to the frame and the fiberglass has detached from the metal. The plan right
now is to make a mold of the other side and cut both sides of glass off up to the pivot section. Then dress up the steel
and make new sections. Fun Fun pics to follow.
A completed project was to change out the centerboard winch:
Currently I have a geared winch for centerboard control. There is not enough adjustment to operate the board from
full up to full down. Also, end to end it is 85 turns! I am going to change this system to a purchase system,
12:1. The proposed setup and installed pics are below.

Upgrades
As you can tell in the pics of the boat the stern section is not original. This was modified at some point in its
history I was told at Charley Morgan's brokerage yard and it was done to four hulls. It is a fantastic addition and
makes for a great swim platform/boarding area and also provides for excellent outdoor shower storage.
Another modification made to this hull was the custom mast and boom. A second set of lowers, angled aft, was added
with an accompanying bulkhead located on each side shelf in the main saloon. In addition there is a detachable
inner forestay, similar to a solent stay but not as high up. It detaches in between the bow cleats and provides for
a nice small jib in heavy weather. In addition to this there is a self-tailing winch on an angled pad on the underside
of the boom for the reeefing lines. Initially the boat had a topping lift but me not being a fan of them I changed
it out with a Boomkicker purchased from Defender Marine.

Problems
Has anyone experienced problems with corrosion in the mast step? I bolted a 1/2" stainless plate on the top part
of the step and plan to re-inforce the undersections in the winter. Has anyone had this problem? When we got the
boat the step was in a severe state of corrosion.
I think that I have worked out the coding for determining the hull number based on the serial number on the transom after
comparing numbers with Rick Bowen (hull 22). Here are two numbers from Rick's and my boats:
HYA360221076 to mine HYA360170976109
HYA (Heritage Yacht A) 36 (feet) 022 (Hull number) 10 76 (October 1976) the 109 refers to the design number
