Along with his activities as a Captain and owner of Charter Businesses, Captain Steve Beckwith has also been a licensed Business and Financial Consultant for over 25 years. Working with virtually every type of business, he has helped to develop several effective business management and training systems. He is also a Board Certified Behavior Therapist and counselor.
The study of parapsychology has been a major component in Steve's background and training. He served as Expedition Manager during lab and field experiments dealing with various elements of psychic phenomena. He also served as Captain of a 600 ton, 125 foot research vessel proving the existence of specific elements of parapsychology such as "remote viewing." While working in these areas with teams from such universities as Stanford and Princeton, he has also been a participant in the research.
Academic degrees and training are useful tools. However, without life's experiences, knowledge is missing an important point of reference. The following are some of the experiences and personal accomplishments that add to Steve's understanding and awareness of the world around us:
Flying
is one of Steve's great loves in life. He started flying when he was
only
10 years old. Currently he is airline qualified as a Commercial Pilot
and
is Captain qualified in light jets and heavy four-engine aircraft. He
has
worked for an aerospace company to help build and flight test twin
engine
commercial prop jets.
Communication
has always been a primary focus for Steve. He became involved in
amateur
radio at the age of 12. After learning to build communication
equipment,
he talked with people all over the world. Still licensed by the FCC, he
continues to cultivate many unique friends in unusual and remote parts
of the globe.
Always
seeking new horizons, Steve is an experienced blue water sailor. He
holds
Master's papers and is a licensed Captain in the U.S. Merchant Marine.
In 1969, at the age of 19, he became the second youngest Captain in
history to
cross the Pacific
Ocean. He has accumulated over 250,000 miles as Captain of vessels
ranging
from 36 foot sailing yachts to 600 ton ships. He has also built and
re-manufactured
several ocean-going vessels from a 37 foot sail boat to a 125 foot
research
vessel.
In
his
extensive and varied travels by boat and aircraft, Steve has explored
many
remote geographic locations and enjoyed learning about their greatly
diverse
cultures. These travels and studies have included such areas as:
Alaska,
Canada, the Arctic Region, Central America, South America, the
Caribbean
Basin and many of the Pacific Island groups.
