This is an excerpt from my novel BLUE CORN WOMAN. This particular excerpt was the inspiration for this illustration and text of the tarot card. "The desert lesbians quit surviving monotony to protect their precious minds. Some things take longer to get use to, but the desert lesbians cured themselves of boredom. Ancient images of life and memory are woven together. Long braided hair or long unbraided hair, they let themselves grow back after a few years harvests, their donkeys braying lyrics, plodding along with baskets of mesquite beans. Wisely, they surrender their time for a close relationship with tone, sometimes bouncing a cunt on their knee. This intimacy is the best. You can't bounce from one end to the other in an hour or even a day. Who would want to? They aren't self-absorbed or addicted to gossip, but they are full of sound and quick to note the "Perfect Fifth," the harmonic musical interval of C and G simultaneously, an apt metaphor considering simultaneous lesbian orgasm. It is all about stimulating the female mind and cunt at the same moment.
