Here is the latest scoop about me - Lee Kolinsky.
The content below is a summary of major events in my life over the past 6 - 12 months.

Well I finally took the plunge and in April of 2005 I quit my job and moved to the most exciting city in the world
Las Vegas NV
(from Rochester NY). I
wanted to be closer to my dad and enjoy some quality time with him before it was
too late. He is now 73 and was diagnosed with
Parkinson's disease back in 1990. He currently maintains his stability
by taking his prescribed medications; but only GOD knows how long it will be
before his health really starts to decline. I'm truly thankful and grateful for
the time we are having and sharing together.

Anyway, I could not be happier getting back to the western part of the country.
Rochester NY was a nice stopping point in my life's journey and it served its
purpose for me for the 10 years that I lived there. The cold and wet weather and
shoveling snow though can be brutal at times. It is also not the most sunny
place to live as out of the 365 days in a year, I would say about 30 of them are
actually nice and sunny; the rest are either cloudy, raining, snowing, overcast,
too hot, too cold, too humid, ... There are about 2 weeks in the spring and 2
weeks in the fall where the weather is actually nice and I guess an additional
few days here and there (and that's being very generous).
Las Vegas on the other hand is a great place to live. Yes it gets quite hot here
for about 3 full months out of the year (mid-June thru mid-Sept when the temps
are >100) But it's a dry heat as they say and I'll take 100 and dry over 80 and
sticky any time. Other than that it is mainly sunny every day and it can get
quite cold especially in the evenings in winter. But the days are usually really nice and
the views of the surrounding mountains are most excellent. Also, there are plenty
of great things to do outdoors that are no more than a 30 minute drive.
Red Rock Canyon,
Mt. Charleston and
Lake Mead area just to name a few.
As I stated above, I quit my job but have not exactly stopped working completely. Semi-retirement is what I like to call it.
Veritas Software, the company I was working for, was bought out by
Symantec back in July of
2005. I was becoming less happy with the direction the company was
taking and was getting quite burned-out with all the travelling I had to do as part of the consulting
services department for which I worked. Fortunately, the company I previously
worked for Collective Technologies
is currently a strategic partner of Veritas (err umm Symantec) and Veritas (and
myself) helped pave the way for me to go back to work for Collective on a more
part-time basis. This allowed me to cut back on the constant travel and also allowed to fit working into my
(and my dad's) schedule. My current plan is to work just 1-week a month for Collective and still do the NetBackup work that I do so well.
Additionally, I've tried starting my own PC consulting business based here in Las
Vegas. My company name is PC-Lee.
I know it sounds a bit hokey but I like it. Now if I can only start marketing it
and actually getting some work out of it. I did register the domain-name and I've been working to build
out the web site so people can see what it's all about and the services I'm offering and yada yada yada.

Meanwhile, while in Las Vegas, I've tried to get more involved with the
Las Vegas Trailblazers,
which is a (singles) hiking/activity/social club. I'm also trying to get more
involved with the Las Vegas Jam
Band Society and this Drum-Circle group.
