This is possibly a dramatized version of Thomas Love Peacock’s novel, Nightmare Abbey. The novel, written in 1818, is a satire of the melancholic literature of Peacock’s time and uses characters based on his friends and acquaintances (Shelley, Coleridge and Byron, among others).
