The
South Dakota
Archaeological Society (SDAS) is comprised of individuals and institutions dedicated to understanding and preserving South Dakota's fascinating prehistoric and historic cultural heritage. The SDAS links interested amateurs with responsible, ethical attitudes toward archaeological
materials and professionals who value the cooperative participation of amateurs.
The
SDAS holds an annual meeting each autumn. Meetings generally include reports
on recently-recorded South Dakota sites, field trips, workshops,
and a keynote banquet speaker.
The
SDAS publishes a quarterly newsletter with short reports of excavations, information about what's going on in South Dakota archaeology, information on new books, information about people in the world
of archaeology, and many other interesting features.
The
SDAS also publishes the annual journal South Dakota Archaeology
with articles and book reviews of enduring scientific interest. Discount prices
are available to members for the SDAS Special Publications in Archaeology series -- longer, single topic books and monographs. If your organization or institution would like to set up a publications exchange agreement,
please write the editor at the address at the bottom of the membership page.
