Lindy ~ A Special Golden Retriever~
Lindy was a very dark golden retriever. Born in Mississippi in 1986, Lindy joined our family at 12 weeks of age. Lindy's namesake was the legendary aviator, Charles Lindbergh (sometimes called "Lucky Lindy"). The name was chosen because Lindy spent his puppyhood at an Air Force Base.
After Lindy moved to Pennsylvania, he went to dog obedience classes and obtained his CD and CGC. On the last leg of his CD, Lindy earned fourth place out of a very large entry. Lindy was grey from the age of about three years old and was constantly -- although sincerely -- asked how old he was.
Lindy was a fabulous companion to other dogs, including Brie (middle) and GRREAT dog, Barney (right). When he was very comfortable, he would cross his paws.
As the years passed, Lindy continued to enjoy life, particularly making a strange yawning noise and digging in the dirt to find just the right place in the leaves. Sadly, Lindy eventually lost the ability to wag his tail.
1986-1999
In 1999, we learned that Lindy had cancer. In a final act of loyalty to us, Lindy waited until our family was together until he went to the rainbow bridge so we could say good-bye. Since Lindy's place will never be filled, his memory is being honored through fostering golden retriever dogs who need new families to adore them too. Brie: A Special Tribute
