Spreadsheet / Tracker -- What It Does

The Spreadsheet / Tracker is a combination of several things:

  1. Menu Planner (and Exchanges, Points, Nutrient Info Tracker)
  2. Recipe Tracker
  3. Weekly Averages -- Graphs and Charts

(1) Menu Planner

Click Picture of a Menu, then click What It Does to get back here.

If the information about a recipe is already in the Tracker, then just typing 2 numbers will pull all the information into your Menu page for you. That is, you type the Quantity you ate & the Row number of the recipe from the Recipes sheet. Click Row Number Illustration, then What It Does to come back here.

The Tracker then automatically looks up the Recipe Info from the Recipes page and puts it into your Menu page for you, after multiplying each item by the Quantity you ate. It then subtotals for each meal and totals for the day. Unused Sliders, Optional Calories, and Points are banked for the next day.

Recipe Info is kept in the Recipe Tracker as the last sheet (HErecipes).
There are a Sample Menu page and 7 menu pages, one for each day of the week.

(2) Recipe Tracker

Contains the Recipe Info. Click Picture of Recipe Tracker, then click What It Does to get back here.

Recipe Info

  • Recipe Name and quantity per serving
  • Source (which book or newsletter and page number)
  • Rating
  • Comments (may put some ingredients here)
  • Category
  • Exchanges
  • Points
  • calories

  • grams for
    • fat
    • fiber
    • protein
    • carbohydrates
  • milligrams for
    • sodium
    • calcium

The Recipe Tracker is also a way to locate that favorite recipe you've lost.
Just use the spreadsheet function Edit | Find (or [CTRL] F) to search for it on the Recipe page.
[CTRL] F means to hold [CTRL] down while you hit F.
Then, type in the Recipe Name, or one or two words (that are next to each other) in the name.

The Tracker already contains Recipe Info for many recipes.   Remember, on these, you only have to type in 2 numbers:
1) row # from the recipes sheet, and 2) quantity in order to get all the information for that item into your menu!

You may also put info for other recipes in your Tracker yourself by just scrolling down to the 1st blank row on the Recipe sheet, and typing it in.
If it was a recipe that you typed in, rather than copying & pasting in, then you only have to type it in once, ever, instead of every time you use that recipe in a menu.

Recipe Info files are uploaded regularly to the Files area in the Yahoo group for Healthy Exchanges, as well as this website.
On these, you just copy and paste the new info into your tracker. (With Excel, use Paste Special | Values.)

(3) Weekly Averages -- Graphs and Charts

Click Picture of Weekly Averages, then click What It Does to get back here.

The Weekly Averages sheet automatically graphs what you've used for the week compared to your targets (that you may set yourself)
