(I have a favorite recipe . . . . It is [this]. We all really enjoy this but the only thing I changed was add my own home grown potatoes instead of the canned ones and we love this.) Peasant Vegetable Bean Soup, p. 60 Fiesta Chicken Skillet, p. 118 Chicken and Macaroni Stew, p. 122 Skillet Pizza Burgers, p. 138 Scroll down after clicking on this link to see: Southwestern Meat Loaf, p. 139 (I haven't really tried any other meatloaf yet to compare to, but we REALLY like this one. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.) (I just made this. It has green peppers in it, and I wasn't sure how I would like it. I like green peppers, but only in certain dishes. I'm glad I tried it. It will be used again!! I'm sure this will be one that my husband will ask "Is this a HEALTHY recipe?". He can't believe that some of the things I make are actually healthy.) (Since I have made [this], and it has become our favorite, I haven't made meatloaf my old way in a long time.) ([This] is our favorite [meatloaf]. (And [this] was really good. It's a definite keeper.) Grande Spaghetti Skillet, p. 142 Scroll down after clicking on this link to see: Fantastic Frankfurter Tetrazzini, p. 193 Yahoo Access (This is one of my favorite HE Recipes. I'm making it this week for my family.) (What's on your menu for Father's Day. . . . I need ideas. . . . Our favorite is [this].) Nacho Squares, p. 160 ([This and Baked Adobe Vegetable Stew (below)] are two of our all time favorites. I've made both of them so many times I can't count. . . . these definitely belong on the favorites list! Both are from Penny-Pinching Main Dishes, one of my most used HE cookbooks.) (We are having a potluck at work and the theme this month is Mexican. . . . I know there are tons of good Mexican type recipes in JoAnna's book, but I would like one that you have tried and really like. . . . Another one we really like is [this].) (yum) Scroll down after clicking on this link to see: Baked Adobe Vegetable Stew, p. 146 (see above -- I usually put this in a bigger baking dish. It really gives you a good size serving!) Simmered Grande Pork Tenders, p. 164 (I will definitely be making this again! YUM!) Tomato Pot Pie, p. 86 Yahoo Access ([This] is a recipe I have already tried and loved. This woman is a genius! But I have said that before. . . . My Note: I add salsa (according to taste) when I add the tomato stuff, and boil it down a little before I add the cheese. I do add some Sweet N'Low to cut the acidity of the tomato, and sometimes I add some chili powder. In the summer I use ripe tomatoes.) Scroll down after clicking on this link to see: Goulash Jumble, p. 148 (***** This was definitely a keeper for us and we will have this some more, the only change I made was to used wholewheat pasta.) Cabbage and Franks, p. 195 (***** (this is from the new CD-ROM) Who would have thought that franks & cabbage would make a good meal? We used a brand of weiners available in Canada from Schneiders. They are low fat, as I was unable to find the fat free. We both enjoyed this. We don't have weiners very often, but feel this is one that our grandchildren would like.) Salmon Cups with Creamed Peas, p. 110 (***** (CD ROM) Awesome. Dennis and I love salmon dishes that use canned salmon. This was very much a surprise. I expected it to be a creamed peas poured over the salmon cups after they cooked. [It wasn't.] They were, as I said, awesome.) Skillet Chicken Cacciatore, p. 119 (***** This is more than 5 stars, we loved it! We used spiral pasta instead of noodles is the only change.) Italian Chef's Salad, p. 81 (***** We loved this. We did not have any ham, so omitted it.) (We had this first time in January, and we really like it. So, we will probably have it at least once a month for a while. The olives I feel really make this dish. I also changed the mozzarella cheese to feta cheese, and it tasted like Greek Salad, sort of.) Ham and Corn Chowder, p. 66 (***** We love this. I am from the Maritimes and love chowders. I used a low-sodium, low-fat can of ham flakes for the ham in this chowder, and it was simply delicious.) Baked Chicken in Sweet and Sour Sauce, p. 124 (Fabulous -- only change we made was we did not have sugar free grape spreadable fruit. I can't find that in Canada, so used S/F spreadable marmalade. Both Dennis and I enjoyed it and we will have it again real soon.) Ballpark Franks, p. 192 Broccoli Rice Quiche, p. 85
