Faux Tiramisu Cheesecake, p.165
    (to die for!)
(Be sure to try this recipe. I made it the first of this week and everyone loved it, especially the 17 year old. Went to get a piece yesterday, and the empty pie plate was on the table, accused him of eating a third of a pie, and here it was my skinny hubby packed it in his lunch. Imagine him eating DIET PIE!!!!!! )
(Well, went to a friend's home for Christmas dinner. . . . When dinner was over, we all watched a movie, and then had dessert. I made [this], but didn't say a word about it being lowfat. I also made a regular cheescake (fattening kind). The lowfat cheesecake was a hit! I mean everyone ate it and said how wonderful it was! I still didn't say a word, except to the hostess. I am so happy. Men sometimes say they won't eat lowfat, and here they were just munching away! I am going to start back up on the road to lowfat foods today. . . . I am going to work very hard. I hope everyone has a Safe, Happy New Year! Work on your goals for you can achieve them!)
(But, I made [this]. It's awesome! So I need to try some more Italian dishes to have an excuse to make the cheesecake! It was too awesome.)

Hawaiian Strawberry Pie, p. 13
(I forgot to mention for all of you who have Dessert Every Night!, this recipe is so special to me that I included Hawaiian Strawberry Pie in the introduction. As I don't repeat recipes from books to books, but as I also could not write a dessert book without including this most special pie, I chose to include it as a bonus in the intro. If you haven't already tried it, be sure to now that strawberry season is fast approaching. Then let me know what you think of it!!! -- JoAnna )
(I finally gave this one a try tonight. You all know this one - JoAnna's favorite pie. Well my family totally agrees with her. Both my sons gobbled down 2 pieces and hubby would have too if I hadn't intervened. I knew I was doing some more baking tonight and wanted him to be guinea pig, so made him stop after one piece. I really loved this pie . . . ([one of my] all time fav pies of JoAnna's . . . totally delicious and I would be proud to serve [it] to company anytime)
(I totally agree! I've made this twice in the last 2 weeks, and it's only me and my DH! (on second thought, maybe it's too-o-o good!)

Praline Squares, p. 252
(They were so easy to make and tasted like you were getting to eat a piece of pecan pie.)
(If you like pecan pie you will love this.)

Peach Crumb Pie, page 148.
(A nice peachy lemony blend, sweet and tart and different.)
(I love [this]. JoAnna has so many very good recipes that you will find it is rare to hit one you don't like.)
(Good bargain hunting. I have Dessert ( I would get it right off!). That is why I love JoAnna. She understands about the sweet tooth. The book is well worth the price (Peach Crumb Pie is worth that alone).)

Banana Split Cream Cake, pp. 193-94
(Hi All: Happy to report that I made [this] for my sister's birthday party and it was truly a huge success -- rave reviews, oohs and aahs continually. I will definitely keep this cake at the top of my list for other such occasions. The only three things I did differently were:

  1. I folded the sliced strawberries into the custard after I had taken it off the fire and it had cooled for 20 minutes. I always prefer a fresh strawberry taste, as opposed to a cooked one;
  2. Because this was such a special occasion and I wanted the cake to look extra luscious, divided the cake batter into two layers. The first layer was frosted with the strawberry mixture and the second with the banana/pineapple custard; and
  3. Again, because of the special occasion, I frosted the top of the cake with the HE whipped topping (or you could use Cool Whip Lite) before garnishing it with the chocolate chips and pecans.
Change #1 is the only one I consider absolutely necessary. The other two are more optional, depending upon the occasion.
What an extravaganza of a dessert this was! The only mistake I made was in not doubling the recipe and making two of them. Everyone said they could have eaten that cake all day long -- yes, it was that good! My sister made me promise her that I would make it for all of her birthdays in the years to come, and hopefully, there will be many, many more. Isabelle )

No-Bake New York Style Cheesecake, p. 159
(Hello Everyone, Just wanted to let everyone know that for Valentine's day, I made my husband favorite dessert New York Style Cheese Cake, I normally make it the old fashion way with eggs, regular cream cheese and alot of sugar. This time I decided to make Jo"s cheese cake from her Desserts Every Night CookBook on page 159. I did make a few modifications to it and all I can say is New York Style Cheesecake never tasted so good. the changes that I made was as follows: I didn't have fat free cream cheese so I substituted the lite version and instead of using vanilla instant pudding mix, I used the white chocolate pudding, and instead of using the grahan pie crust, I crumbled the crust up and spread it in the bottom of a spring form pan and sprinkled some crumbs on the sides and poured the mixture into it and spread it evenly. I let it sit for 8 hours in the refrigerator and that night we had a slice, it was delicious and very tasty, but the next day when we had it for dessert it was so smooth and velvety that it melted in your mouth. This cheese cake needs to sit in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours for the ingredients to blend together well to reach this velvety smooth consistency. I have made many of cheese cakes in my time when I had my bakery, but this one is by far the easiest and the most delicious that I have ever tasted. My husband couldn't believe that it was low fat and that I didn't bake it and use all the fattening ingredients, all I can say is this cheesecake is "YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY FOR YOUR TUMMY". This is comfort food at it's finest. The next time I make this particular cheese cake, I will experiment with different flavors of the puddings like, banana, coconut, lemon, pistachio, chocolate etc. just remember to use the same flavoring to compliment the pudding for a richer flavor. I can't wait to try them. Hope everyone will give this cheese cake a try if you haven't already. See Sinless Hot Fudge Sauce. Enjoy! Vickey)
(It is wonderful. You can top it with whatever kind of fruit your family likes or drizzle a little chocolate sauce over it. Lucky Leaf now makes a no sugar cherry and apple pie filling that is sweetened with Splenda. It is very good and takes almost no time to prepare.)
(Tonight for dessert - I made [this]. I made it one time before and liked it so much I made it tonight for company. My daughter made a comment, "Mom this is so good, so rich." She should only know it contained SF pudding. Anyway it tastes wonderful and not like you are substituting something. Give it a try. . . . The recipe calls for fat free cream cheese, and I used 1/3 less fat. (It is what I had on hand.) Last minute dessert.)
(I just made this for the first time last week. It is very good! I substituted the Land O Lakes FF Sour Cream w/ JoAnna's recipe for making your own sour cream except that I didn't have plain yogurt in the frige, I had vanilla yogurt. I thought for this recipe that the vanilla yogurt should work. I just decreased the amount of vanilla flavoring by 1/2 teaspoon. It worked fine because the cheesecake was very good. I agree, you should give this one a try soon.)
(I was wondering if anyone would give me their favorite cheesecake of Joanna's. . . .
[this one] very good cheesecake!! I really haven't met a cheesecake that I didn't like!)
(I used half a can of store-bought lite cherry pie filling, spread all over the top of the cheesecake after chilling it for an hour. I then, after spreading cherries on top, put it back into the fridge for another hour or so, to chill the filling. I happen to prefer chilled preserves. This is an alternative to the recipe . . . . My family loved it!!!)
(All I did different was, instead of spreadable fruit, I used JoAnna's recipe for Cherry Pie Filling but substituted frozen strawberries instead of cherries. It probably adds a few more Points to the total but it is worth it.)
(We liked this, especially with strawberry spreadable fruit. I tried it without spreadable fruit to cut the carbs down, but like it so much better with. We think it's the winter version of the Fresh Strawberry Cheesecake (Strawberries -- The Gem of the Garden Cookbooklet, p. 27).)

Apple Cobbler, p. 233
(Hi - for Sunday dessert I made [this] - It was very, very good! . . . I hope you enjoy this wonderful recipe.)
(Well, I did make this yesterday, and it was really good. I have some fresh peaches in the frige that need to be used. I think that I'm going to give them a try tonight.)
(We need to add this to the favorites list if it's not already. . . . I have made this with apples, peaches and now since yesterday with raspberries. I used cinnamon instead of apple pie spice with the peaches and raspberries. It has been good any way you bake it!)
(I have made [this] into all kinds of cobbler's, and we really like it. I have used peaches, raspberries, blackberries and apples. I leave the raisens out of all the cobblers, and if I'm making it with berries I use cinnamon instead of applie pie spice. I use the apple juice in them all.)

Banana Split Cream Pie, p. 141
(I was just surfing looking for anything on the H.E. program and found this board. I love the recipes, and we are successfully changing our livestyles w/o remorse! PLUS...........I entered a pie cook off at my church this weekend and won 1st place using the Banana Split Cream Pie recipe from "Desert Every Night!" with a few adjustments*. They did not even know it was good for them. Not to mention it was only the second pie I had ever made in my life. I hope to visit here often! . . . )
(* I added a dab of whip cream on each piece with a cherry on top, substitued peanuts for pecans, and garnished the crust with minature hershey kisses. Each piece had 3 and there are only 80 calories in 11 pieces with 4.5 grams of fat. So I did not feel too bad making that addition. Plus I used a chocolate flavored crust instead of just a graham cracker crust. Can you tell I'm a chocoholic????)
([This] is probably my husband's favorite. Did you tell everyone that it was a healthy pie AFTER you won first place?)
(I did tell some people it was Healthy. There were approx. 600 people at the festival. I do know my pies dissappeared instantly!! )
(For anyone that has the "Dessert Every Night!" cookbook, you HAVE to try [this]. It is to die for. Hubby sat and actually moaned the whole time he was eating it. Gave it a resounding 5 (out of 5) and I must agree with him. Your worst problem will be to stop at one piece.)
(I had to make this last night and it was all your fault telling us how good it is. You were right! It is excellent. Family just loved it. Thanks for letting us know.)
(This is one of my husband's all time favorites and was probably the first HE pie I ever fixed.)
([This] I took along. It was excellent.)
([one of my] all time fav pies of JoAnna's . . . totally delicious and I would be proud to serve [it] to company anytime)

Almond Pudding Treats, p. 84

Sparkling Chocolate Pudding Treats, p. 85
(Right after lunch is my weakest point of the day for sweets. We have candy bars readily available, so I have to take something with me to work, so I don't give in to the temptation. I like to keep it REALLY low in fat grams, so that I can still have a piece of dessert with my family after dinner if I have a dessert made. I have found that JoAnna's pudding treat recipes fit that bill. Two of my favorites are [these] . . . . It is my way of satisfying that sweet tooth, but still staying within my fat grams for the day.)
(Good morning! Just had to tell you, JoAnna's recipes are getting more raves at my house! Last night we had Easy Salisbury Steak from Cooking Healthy With A Man In Mind, p. 197 and [this]. With it I served herb & butter (Great Value brand from Walmart) mashed potatoes and frozen peas & carrots. I doubled the recipe for the meat as we are a family of 5, two of them being hungry men who each weigh less than 150#, so they eat as much as they want. They ate their fill and Tony (son) took the one leftover piece of meat to his room for a bedtime snack!)

Frosted Pumpkin Cake, p. 197
(We fixed [this] a few days ago. It was delicious--even my DH enjoyed it & he's not a cream cheese frosting guy. It's baked in a 9x9 pan & makes 6 servings---they were really large portions, so we actually cut one in half a couple of times & it was still very satisfying.)
(Still haven't found out what daughter is fixing for dinner, but she did make [this]; it's a real winner! The servings are huge. We've had it a few times now, and it never lasts long. Hmm. Maybe I'll have a piece for breakfast tomorrow...what do you think?)
(I also enjoyed [this].)

Apple Dumpling Dessert, p. 285
(Hi Tonight I made [this]. It was wonderful. Even DH said this is good.)
(I also made this dessert this weekend and I agree with you . . . . This dessert is WONDERFUL! I have always loved apple dumplings and never thought you could have all that flavor and goodness without the fat and sugar. Boy was I happy to find out I was wrong!)
(***** This was excellent. Our grandson (3 years old) told Papa that he was the best cooker. This was an excellent dessert to top off a roast pork dinner that included baked potato, squash, and carrots. Both our daughters praised the dinner, but loved dessert. Dennis says "Thanks JoAnna! You made me look good again!")

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake, p. 162
([This is one of my] favorite desserts, and I am not a big fan of Peanut Butter. But [it reminds] me of a Reese's, and sometimes I want to indulge, so this satisfies me.)
(My grandson absolutely loves [this]. He doesn't really like sweets but always requests that cheesecake.)

Better Than Candy Cheesecake, p. 161
(We tried [this] and have both fallen in love. I know I have heard good things about this one before but have just tried it for the first time.)

Easy Tiramisu, p. 284
(The real find was [this] for our dessert last night. I love this and it's only 157 calories and 1 gm of fat for a nice sized, satisfying serving. We all liked this, no lower vote than a 4 out of 5 (I give it a 5). I am thinking of doubling the recipe and taking it to my familie's Christmas gathering. The only drawback I found was that it was difficult to serve neatly (first piece looked like Jeffrey did the honors). There is a raspberry variation listed with the recipe, may try it also. . . . this one is a candidate for the Favorites page.)
(We really like that Easy Tiramisu recipe as well and have recommended it to others. I've always thought the angelfood shortcakes were the little round angelfood type things they sell in the summer for strawberry shortcake. If your store doesn't have these in the winter you could probably substitute 1/2 to 1/3 of an angelfood cake or an angelfood "loaf" - angelfood cake in the shape of a loaf of bread.)
(You must try this recipe. I am going to fix it for our Christmas gathering, doubled. My son wants me to fix the raspberry version also. He says it is one of the best desserts I've ever made. Now, I thought . . . the little 'sponge' cakes found in a lot of grocery stores in Produce by the strawberries. There are usually 4 to a pack but I had to get 6-in-a pack yesterday in Winn Dixie. I think the other brand I had (Hostess or Merita) calls them Dessert Cups. These were called Dessert Shells and made by 'Specialty Bakery'. This dessert is so rich and you get such a large serving, no one would dream it has only 157 calories & 1 gm of fat. I really think you could cut it into 8 pieces and be happy with it. I'm going to do that Christmas, pick up 4 extra servings and since there will be so much food there smaller is better. I will have a great dessert myself (and save tons of calories!). I'm sure these little "dessert shells" are what JoAnna referred to but if not, they work wonderfully in the recipe. I cut them crosswise.)

Refreshing Pear Pistachio Pie, p. 130
(This is a great Christmas pie which I didn't get around to so we rang in the New Year with it.)

Black Bottom Lemon Cream Pie, p. 127

Peanut Butter and Jelly Muffins, p. 295 Yahoo Access
(These are really tasty. I topped them off with a cinnamon sugar coating (not much - just enough to get that sweet taste on my tongue). They were great - best warm or heated.)

Hawaiian Upside-Down Coffeecake, p. 237
(very good!)
(has pineapple rings and maraschino cherries)

Rocky Road Cheesecake, p. 167
(Hi, I have the Dessert Every Night! cookbook. Up until this book I did not like cheesecake. Well...that changed. [This] is yummy.)
(I made [this] yesterday. I was out of chocolate pudding mix, so I used sugar free white chocolate instant pudding instead. I also didn't have 2 full cream cheese blocks, so I used 1 1/2. My entire family voted it the best dessert I have ever made. It is something I won't dare make if I think there will be left overs. I wouldn't be able to stop until it was all gone. This goes right to the top of my favorites list for sure.
Note: I put the dry milk powder and water in a jar and shook it up before adding it to the recipe. From past experience, I found that adding the dry milk powder directly to the cream cheese mixture leaves it very grainy.)
(My favorite cheesecake is [this]. I have made it so many times, and it's always a big hit.)
(Have to take a dessert to a party this week. What pie is your very favorite that you make alot and everyone in your family/friends love? Since there are so many I am having a hard time zeroing into one. Thanks a million for your time to answer this question. . . .
I know this isn't a pie, but I take it whenever I'm asked to bring a dessert, and I make it for all special family occasions. Since it's made in a pie crust, I consider it a pie and it is oh so good. . . . I always make it with white chocolate instant pudding mix and use a chocolate pie crust.)
(This is our all time favorite dessert and I have 2 other ways I make it. The most decident is to use chocolate fudge instant pudding and top it with pecans, chocolate chips and marshmallows. Everyone that I serve it to wants the recipe and can't believe that it's "diet food". The second way I make it is to use white chocolate instant pudding to replace the chocolate in the original recipe. It is wonderful also (my DH's favorite). I'm making it for Easter dinner using the chocolate fudge instant pudding. Yummmm.)
(It is so decadent. I love to serve it to company and watch their faces when they take their first bite. Everyone loves it. . . . My Hint: When I make JoAnna's cheesecakes, I soften the cheese in one bowl, and in another bowl I put the milk powder, flavoring: ie vanilla and water; mix it well then add the pudding mix and beat it with a whisk until it gets thick . . . then I immediately add it to the cheese and blend it all together. This all has to be done quickly, but it eliminated any graininess in the cheesecake.)
(I made [this] this weekend . . . . I've made this many times before, and it's my favorite JoAnna pie! Since we have a lot of new friends on the boards, I wanted to share that if you haven't tried this cheesecake, it's more than a keeper!! . . . I made two of these for Easter last year, and I've been requested to bring them again . . . YUM!)
(And my favorite dessert (I have made this so many times I could make it with my eyes closed.) is [this]. . . . I make it with white chocolate instant pudding and use a chocolate crust.)

Tutti Frutti Coffeecake, p. 235
(I made this today because my son begged me for something with blueberries in it. Man oh man was it good. Just had a piece and it's very rich tasting and moist. I used pecans instead of walnuts though and also added 1/3 cup of Splenda to the recipe. Next time (and there definitely will be a next time) I'm going to leave out the nuts completely and then this will definitely be rated a 5! Oh btw I cut it into 9 pieces instead of 8 and the pieces were large enough for us.)
(This is one of my very favorite cakes. Right before baking, I sprinkle it with a mixture of Splenda and cinnamon. Adds the crowning touch I think.)
(I tried this last year and it was wonderful.)
(I agree - it's very VERY good.)
(I used pecans instead of walnuts, though, and also added 1/3 cup of Splenda to the recipe. Next time (and there definitely will be a next time), I'm going to leave out the nuts completely and then this will definitely be rated a 5! Oh, btw, I cut it into 9 pieces instead of 8 and the pieces were large enough for us.)
(I did add the extra Splenda in it for the sweetness, and forever more, I've left out the nuts. I love this cake. It's sooooo good and every time I make it, it disappears faster than the speed of light. Give it a try.)

Cliff's Crazy Cake, p. 185
(I made [this] last night. . . . Super cake! My husband, who is not much of a sweet eater, loved it!)

Cheesecake Pudding, p. 87
(***** Actually should be 5 plus; this desserts is so rich, that you just cannot believe it is allowed on a healthy eating program!)
(When I made this recently, I fanned an almost sliced-through strawberry and set into the top of the Cool Whip. It was SO pretty! And delicious! My company LOVED it. Doesn't JoAnna make us look great?)
(Note: This tastes BEST the next day. Gives the flavours a chance to blend.)
(absolutely sinful tasting, oh so creamy)

Rhubarb Custard Pie with Strudel Topping, p. 151
(You were craving a Rhubarb Custard Pie. Joanna has a wonderful recipe [this one].)
(It's easy to make, a bit tart, but good.)

Festive Grasshopper Cheesecake, p. 164
(I tried [this] yesterday and I must say this ranks right up there with the Rocky Road Cheesecake from Dessert Every Night!, p. 167, as one of my all time favorite Healthy Exchanges cheesecakes. Not only is it utterly sinful with the creamy chocolate mint, but it also looks beautiful with the green whipped topping and drizzled chocolate syrup. I will definitely serve this to guests. My husband who is very picky thought this was fabulous. If your looking for an excellent dessert, don't hesitate to give this a try.)
(I agree with you about [this cheesecake]. I love mint in any form!)

Sunshine Line Cherry Chocolate Muffins, p. 296
(I made [this] and they were a big hit with my 3 year old. I added an extra tablespoon of chocolate chips. I also got 12 decent sized muffins out of the batter. The recipe was for 8 muffins.)

Margarita Pretzel Salad Dessert, p. 280
(Last night's dinner was very enjoyable, so I thought I would share with everyone. We had Italian Braised Steak from Kids in Mind, p. 200, for the main dish...
For dessert I made [this]. It has a pretzel crust, cream cheese layer, lime gelatin pudding layer, and Cool Whip and crushed pretzels on top. This was very, very good. The flavors were perfect together.)

Easy Apple Pecan Crisp, p. 219
(Even though there were 4 of us, all 6 servings got eaten as hubby and son each had two helpings.)
(Two recipes we have tried recently, and everyone LOVED, were Barleyburger Stew from Potful of Recipes, p. 108, and [this]. . . . I have a dishpan full of golden delicious apples my neighbor brought me and I'm definitely making a double batch of the crisp over the weekend as my crew went through it in one day! It really fills the house with "welcome" smells! . . . I've given [my sister] both recipes and she has lost 20# in the last few months, too!)
(Dennis & I both enjoyed this.)

Apple Blueberry Crisp, p. 220
(***** Awesome! Here is a dessert that uses both of my favorite fruits, blueberries and apples. This is a great fall recipe for using blueberries that we had frozen this summer.)

Cappuccino Orange Pudding, p. 95
(***** This is a great dessert, fast to make, but Dennis picked up the wrong pudding off the shelf and he made this with JELL-O Sugar-Free Instant White Chocolate (4 serving). Oh it was sooooo good!)

Grandma's Peach Cobbler, p. 226
([one] of our favorites . . . [shows] up in our kitchen regularly)

Holiday Pumpkin Cheeecake, p. 179
(I really liked this pie/cheesecake. I needed my "pumpkin" fix. Most of my family members do not like Pumpkin Pie. (They like pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, even a bar that is almost like pumpkin pie.) It is the best of this type of pumpkin dessert that I've ever had, other than the "custard-type" which I think I really like better.)

Blueberry Peach Crisp, p. 221
(***** We are hooked on this!)

Joyful Almond Cheesecake, p. 160
(I was wondering if anyone would give me their favorite cheesecake of Joanna's. . . .
[one of] our favorite cheesecakes. I almost never made cheesecakes before Healthy Exchanges, now I make them often and my husband loves it!)
(I have found that for my taste, I make the cheesecakes one day and then eat them the next. For some reason the ingredients meld when they sit overnight in the fridge. Now that is just my opinion. I have made a lot of Joanna's cheesecakes and loved everyone of them. The only advice I know to offer is to let them sit overnight in the fridge before you eat them.)

Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie, p. 147
(Have to take a dessert to a party this week. What pie is your very favorite that you make alot and everyone in your family/friends love? Since there are so many I am having a hard time zeroing into one. Thanks a million for your time to answer this question. . . .
[this one])

Chocolate Hawaiian Coffeecake, p. 239
(Last night I made [this], except I made muffins out of it. I increased the Splenda by 1/8th cup (it calls for 1/4 cup), and I increased the water by 1/4 cup, and I increased the baking temperature to 375 degrees F. [baking time will be shorter for the muffins -- 12 to 15 min. - ?] (I got 12 nice muffins out of this recipe.) It was really good. Both my husband and I really like it and I will make it again. I had one this morning with my cup of coffee and it was great and filling! . . . Whether you make it as a coffeecake or as muffins, it is a winner!)

Caramel Pecan Coffeecake, p. 240
(There's also a great recipe for sticky buns that I have made. You make them in the microwave so it's very fast.)
(It's not a new recipe, but one I kind of forgot about. This morning I was looking for a breakfast coffee cake or a muffin recipe and ran across [this]. If you haven't tried it you should. You make it in the microwave, so it takes very little time to whip it up. It reminds me of the sticky buns my Mom used to buy at the bakery.)
(I read your post, got off the computer, and made these. They are great. Thanks for reminding us.)

Blueberry Rice Supreme, p. 99
(This is my absolute favorite dessert. I'd pick it over regular chocolate cake, and that's saying something!)

Chocolate Pots de Creme Pudding, p. 83
(I managed to make this using fat-free chocolate instant pudding. I just made the pudding the way it says on the pkg., using the 1 1/4 c. cold coffee, and using 1/2 c. low-fat milk. I also added 2 Tbsp. cherry brandy we happened to have on hand. I topped it with 1 Tbsp. Cool Whip Lite, and it was just awesome!!)
