Rusty's Notes -
Take a walk into a time warp, suddenly you're transported to the "old neighborhood" at the corner of Fitzhugh and Bryan. You walk in, you can tell it's run by an Italian family. In addition to a fabulous selection of cheeses, salamis, proscutti they sell a small selection of wine. The wines are all Italian, and with the owners getting a little help making wine selections from "a guy they know" that owns Adelmo's (one of the best Italian eateries in town), the result is a very nice selection of wines ranging from budget prices to $50. You can also get a sub to go, a few cans of imported Italian tomatoes, and a pound of mortadella while you're buying wine. A definite thumb's up from Rusty.

Red Coleman's

Inwood near Beltline Store

Rusty's Notes - Beware, not all Red Coleman Stores are alike. The store on Greenville Ave. is definitly the wine flagship with the store on Inwood Dr. near Addison lagging in second, with the rest of Red's running like plow horses in the Big D wine race. The store on Greenvile near Meadow is stellar, great selection, great specials, good regular prices, and a knowlegeable helpful staff. You will like shopping for wine here.

Rusty's Notes - Sigels location in Addison is the "carriage trade" champ of the Sigels chain. Tremendous selection with prices ranging from Budget to hundreds of dollars per bottle. Wine of the Week advertised specials are usually at popular prices selected by a very knowledgeable buyer. If the tasting notes are to your liking, pick up a bottle, try it, then if you like the wine you can pick up a case before the sale ends.

Tony's Wine Warehouse & Bistro

2904 Oak Lawn Ave
Dallas, TX 75219

Dallas Morning News Guide Comment

Rusty's Notes - Tony's motto is "you don't have to know wine, you just have know a good wine merchant." Rusty does know a several good wine merchants, none of them is Tony. Tony's prices are set to gouge at restaurant wine list prices. He specializes in fleecing the novice.Rusty says to pass this one up. The Bistro is better, but why suffer the abuse.

Marty's Wine Bar and Cafe TuGogh

Rusty's Notes - Marty's as a deli is superb. As a restaurant and wine bar Marty's is superb. As a wine store Marty offers some real nice wines, but I would make some discreet inquiries of the excellent sales staff about prices. You see you can shop for your dinner wine at Marty's, a nice touch in a restaurant, but I think the prices though pretty reasonable for a restaurant are a bit steep for a wine store. Ask first.
