We at the Woodman State Jail would like to wish everyone a happy “New Millenium” Fourth of July.

On June 9, the Linda Woodman Unit held a memorial service to remember the fallen officers gone but not forgotten.

The invocation was given by Chaplain Rodriguez, then Officer Berrien made some motivational remarks.A memorial candle was then lit by Substance Abuse Counselor N. Whited. T. Sullivan from Human Resources spoke next giving a special tribute, and K. Richards from Classification ended the ceremony with the benediction — An Officer’s Prayer.

The Woodman Unit Post Trauma Team then planted a tree on the northwest corner of the facility in memory of our fallen officers. The 7-foot ash tree was donated by Hale’s Nursery.

Our own 1st Shift COIII R. Aguilar was honored along with her husband COIII G. Kluck of Murray Unit as a “flag-flying couple”.

This couple was honored by the Exchange Club for doing their patriotic part and displaying “Old Glory” in their front lawn all year long in honro of Mrs. Aguilar’s late father, Policarpio Aguilar. Also Michael Joseph Kluck, son of the couple, started preservice training at the Hilltop academy and will be assigned to the Darrington Unit. We would like to wish him good luck.

In a ceremony at Stratcom HQ, Offutt AFB, Nebraska, Brig. Gen.-select David E. Clary pinned on the stars of brigadier general. Lt. Gen. Ford, deputy director of Stratcom, and L. Clary, David’s wife, did the honors for Brig. Gen. Clary on April 28. Clary’s children Kyle and Brian placed insignia of rank on his duty uniform shirt.

Brig Gen. Clary is the son of Eugene Clary, radiologic technologist at the Woodman Unit and the grandson of Martin D. Clary, a longtime teacher at Gatesville Junior High School.

July birthday wishes go out to the following: B. Beckett, M. Bond, S. Bridges, K. Broam, B. Connally, I. Deholloz, V. Douglas, R. Echevarria, P. Entsminger, J. Floyd, D. Harris, M. Holden, G.
