Congratulations to Officer A. Torres, Security, December EOM and V. Moreno, Non-Security, December EOM- mailroom clerk.

For the month of January 2000, Segovia Unit recognizes and congratulates Officer O. Salinas, Security EOM from 2nd Shift, and Ms.Delia Piña, Non-Security EOM from countroom. Your dedication to the TDCJ Segovia Unit is greatly appreciated!

Recognition goes to J. Zapata best person for the new COS job assignment! Wishing you the best in all that you do.

The Segovia Unit is pleased to announce the following promotions to Captain: Lt. A. Bustinza, a well-deserved promotion.

Your TDCJ career assignments and activities are so extensive it would almost seem one lifetime could not encompass them all.

Yet, you have found the time and energy, to work and to be a leader in the field of Corrections.

Promoting to Lieutenant: Sgt. A. Salazar, who has proven to be a professional at all times! Promoting to Sergeant: Officer R. Garza, welcome to 2nd Shift.

Officer E. Lang and Officer J. Hernandez, welcome to 3rd Shift. Best wishes to all!

Mr. Thomas, affectionately called “Mr. T,” has been the perfect example of what a correctional officer should be. Employed with TDCJ for more than 10 years, known to be a very dedicated employee who went above and beyond the call of duty.

No one will ever take the place of this well-respected officer who took care of his business and among his fellow workers referred to as a “pillar” to rely on for any support that was needed.

Whether it was a use of force, assist and supporting his shift or just being a “friend,” Mr. T was there. Best wishes to you on your retirement! You will be missed.

Something to think about:

WHO AM I?
YOU MAY KNOW ME- I’m your constant companion. I’m your greatest helper, I’m your heaviest burden.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- I will push you onward or drag you down to failure. I am at your command.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- Half the tasks you do might as well be turned over to me. I’m able to do them quickly and I’m able to do them the very same every time if that’s what you want.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- I’m easily managed, all you’ve got to do is be firm with me.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- Show me exactly how you want it done; after a few lessons I’ll do it automatically.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- I am the servant of all great men and women; of course, servant of the failures as well.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- I’ve made all the great individuals who have ever been great. And, I’ve made all the failures, too.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- But I work with all the precision of a marvelous computer with the intelligence of a human being.
YOU MAY KNOW ME- You may run me for profit or you may run me to ruin, it makes no difference to me. Take me. Be easy with me and I will destroy you. Be firm with me and I’ll put the world at your feet. Who am I? I’m HABIT.
