On Saturday, April 15 the John Middleton Unit Response Team performed the Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics in Abilene at the Abilene Christian university track field.

The team escorted two Special Olympians around the track carrying the torch and then passed it off to Special Olympian Matt, who then carried the torch to Warden Cooper from the Dick Ware Unit.

Members of the Middleton Response Team who participated were Capt. J. Betcher, Sgt. C. Chapman, CO III Murdock, CO III Hoover, CoIII Holt, CO III Elliott, CoIII Evans, Co III Patterson, Co III Silvas, CO III Dominguez, CO III N. Chapman, CO III Bradley, and CO III Gallion.

The Response Team sponsored by Warden James Duke will be participating in the the “Relay for Life” on May 19.

All proceeds raised go to help the fight against cancer.
