The Havins Unit participated in the universal memorial service on Friday,
June 9.
The ceremony had to be held indoors due to the much-needed rain.
Volunteer chaplain Howard Wortham gave the invocation, and Warden James
Ragsdale spoke to those present. Sgt. Jan Clark then lit the memorial candle
following the roll call of fallen officers.
Maj. Pam Miles gave a special tribute and asked for a moment of silence
in honor of those employees who were actively employed with TDCJ at the
time of their death. Volunteer chaplain Howard Wortham then gave the benediction.
Following this service, USSO members planted two redbud trees in honor
of Officers D. Nagle and F. Garza.
