The July report for our unit was misplaced. Unfortunately, I was unable
to make a copy to keep prior to turning it in due to not being able to
get a security use copier.
The information and pictures turned in are gone. To those who sent info.,
promoted, etc. I extended apologies. Please re-submit the info to be printed.
Employee of the Month: The EOM was officer J. Jones (V) Shes exceptional
employee that we are grateful to have.
The July EOM was Officer T. Wolffe. He began his correctional career
in 1983 at Darrington and Hilltop Units. Currently, he works our staff
(HK) program and is a member of REACT.
Officer Wolffe is a hard worker who constantly strives to improve his
already excellent performance. He is very helpful and friendly to his fellow
co-workers. ( Theres only one T.W.!) Other Nominees include:
Officers Hobbs, Izquierdo, Cox Roberts, Farney, Tamlin (FSM), Mayse (FSM),
and Anthony (FSM).
CORRECTION: 8 pounds 15 ounces is the correct weight for baby Cody Lane
Norton, According to proud parents Officers R& J. Norton.
CONGRATS: Officer W. Suggs (formerly Dean) is back from delivering her
twins and looks great!
Everyone at Riverside is going to the Chapel Officer Chesshire
is now Williams and Officer Hill is now Burner. Best wishes to both of
you!
PROMOTIONS: Our rank structure is changing almost as fast as the 1st
Shift list. It is getting hard to keep up with! You all be hospitable to
all the new sergeants. Theyve already demonstrated guts to go before
a board and run a shift that is short-handed.
Our latest is Sgt. J. Eastman lateraled into the MROP slot, and Officer
C. Evetts is now a LMII.
We welcome Sgt. Y. Jenkins. J. Woolever is the new LMII, D. Campos from
L.M. is our now V.O.F. Clerk III, A. Wilson from L.M. is our new human
resources field officer clerk III.
Outta Here: Farewell to Capt. Mathews who is leaving us for the greener
pastures of Freeworld Employment and (yes we are J) higher
pay.
Well miss his easy going tell-it-like-it-is, definitely country
smile. Im not real good at saying little speeches he
says. Yall keep writing them letters. Keep your chins up, and
goodbye.
Sgt. R. Wynn is retiring after 17 years. Were happy he gets to
chill, but we really, really hate to lose him. Ive enjoyed
working with everybody. Bye! He says grinning.
Officer G. McLearen (TC) retired after 20 years and is Having
a Ball. Officer W. Radar hung it up after 16 years. Well miss
his jokes.
Officer R. Coalston also had double digit years of service under his
belt when he left Valley. It seems everybody on the unit has asked of him
His surgeries went well.
Get Well: Officer Lewis (RC), you are missed.
Lt. King is very proud that the staff of Valley knows that need has
no boundaries. They collect food for the needy year round and rotate it
to a different community every month.
Relay for Life: Our unit sent two teams to the event. Team 1 was the
GV Administration. Warden Rucker, Maj. L. Sharp and others rounded up a
nice amount of cash for cancer. Team 2 GV SOS (short of staff)
had officers J. Wilson, M. Dubrock, K. Funke, M. Hill, C. Evetts, J. Young,
R. LeRue, K. Marshall, and two freeworld friends lapping the track showing
support for the cause.
Beware where you get your Uniforms fixed!
It seems that there is one alteration company that is short-changing
and not doing the greatest work on the uniforms due to a beef with some
staff.
Reminder that Hilltop does alternations and at almost every unit on
a bulletin board there is someone on staff that does it (usually pretty
cheaply) for extra cash.
If there is anything you wish to see in this article, contact me at
Valley 1st.
Also, remember to pack your bag like you are not getting relieved, because
the day may come when you dont!
Protect yourself from the summer heat and take care of yourselves and
each other.
Cya next month! Katie.
