Before they arrived, my husband asked me why I had to have top quality birds. I replied with the question:
"Why do you need chrome on your cars?" I'm not sure he understood at the time. But he does now. Even
he has to agree that these are the best looking birds I've ever had. Everday, my Holderread's babies continue to amaze
me. I can see a portion of their pen as I come around the driveway. And they stopped me in my tracks the
first time they were out walking around when I returned home. Oksana was facing away, but standing straight up.
None of my previous ducks could strike a pose so tall and slim. They really command attention. I've been spending
time with them twice a day, every day, to be sure they grow up friendly. I want to be able to admire their beautiful
feathers close up. So far, it's working. They crawl all over me and demand whatever treats I have for them.
At this close range, I get to see each new feather and every subtle facial expression. They really know how to
tell you the treats aren't coming fast enough!
I'm finally coming up with names. It's been tough and some of them have had several names before I found the right
one. I have no idea why some names came to mind. But they felt right, so they stuck.

| Oksana at 6 weeks |

My white female was the first to loose all the down from the top of her head. This look reminds me of a
Borzoi dog. Let's see . . . exquisite, graceful and Russian. Her name could only be Oksana.
I hope the real Oksana doesn't mind.

Even at this young age, the green iridescence is already visible on both of the chocolates.
