Indian Runners of any quality are active and entertaining.
They're always doing something silly.
I had planned on selling all my production quality birds and only keeping top show quality, but there's something about even the short, stocky ones that can't be denied.
So what difference does it make whether you have production quality or top show quality?
If entertainment is all you want, it doesn't matter.
They say the production quality ones are better layers.  But if slender grace is also what you're looking for, you need to upgrade.  Since my flock is half and half, the pictures below illustrate pretty clearly the differences in body type.  I have to say, I think my prettiest birds (color wise) are actually my production quality birds.  But I plan to experiment with colors out of my top quality birds to see if I can create some happy accidents with color.  I hope this doesn't offend anyone.  But I believe any enthusiasm for a breed is better than none at all.  If I can get other backyard birders to appreciate the breed because of a wierd color I created, then they may just help maintain the breed for the future.
Besides, how did we get all the great colors we have now?!

Note:
The blue production female in these pictures was completing molting at the time the pictures were taken.  So her wings and tail look especially short and stubby.  But her overall body type is accurate.
