Rocket #3: Rich’s Big Betty, Rocket #2 Kalpana’s (Sonia’s) Stormcaster

Flyers and visitors: George and family, Vananh and family

Kalpana and daughters recovering their models. Rich and son far right.

Mark – skipped church to help out with the launch – now that’s a friend.

#1 – George’s Quest Penetrator, #2 – Rich’s Estes Yankee, #3 – John’s Estes Guardian. Note that I installed the launch rack backwards – I normally do install the rack so that the numbers read left to right.

#1 – Geoff’s Estes Monarch, #2 – Geoff’s Estes Paveway III, #3 – Kalpana’s Storm Caster

#1 – Geoff’s Estes Monarch, #2 – Christine’s Quest model, #3 – Scott’s Estes V2

More flyers and spectators.

I always like getting a few photos of the vehicles at the launch – it’s always been a way of judging the size and success of a launch - This was a good launch.

Looks like Mark (yellow Tshirt) is doing his thing – I’m sure the guy on the left (may be my son) is learning something new. By the way, much thanks to Charles for bringing out some folding chairs for anyone’s use.

Rich’s son on the left getting ready to launch his Big Betty. Christine and son in the background.

Rich loading up the Estes Yankee model. I think Rich and family will be returning to future lauches. Looked like Rich could really get into this hobby. Note Charles’s Estes Snitch space ship model on pad #3. The kids always love to see this thing fly.

Don brought his son Lukas to watch. Won’t be long before he’ll be bringing his own rocket to fly.

And finally the crowd pleasing launch of the day. Daniel and his Estes ‘Dude’ – an 8 foot tall mylar balloon rocket. Because of the high winds, Mark on the right holds the model in place while we waited for a lull in the winds – at the right moment, Mark let go and Daniel pushed the button. The lift off was great on a D12 motor. The winds sort of carried the model downwind. The model then turned on its side and floated safely to the ground. WhoooWa! Be sure to see the video of the flight.
