12.16.04 • After a busy fall, I have recordings of the new pieces, including Nocturne, a new original for orchestra. Listen to them here.

11.01.04 • On Thursday, November 11, Clarence Hines and myself will direct the Eastman Jazz Lab Band in Kilbourn Hall. I'll be conducting works by Toshiko Akiyoshi, Rufus Reid, and Bill Holman.

11.01.04 • On the same concert, I'll also direct the Eastman Youth Jazz Orchestra in the premiere of a new chart for jazz ensemble, Older & Wiser.

09.15.04 • The fall semester has begun and I have three commissions to complete this fall, two of them in conjunction with The Commission Project. One of the commissions is for the award-winning Eastman Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by Howard Potter. Additionally, there will be a new piece for the Eastman Studio Orchestra. Keep an eye on the schedule for performance dates.

09.10.04 • The 7th annual Labor Day concert at Bemus Bay was a tremendous success before a crowd of over 5000, on land and in the water. My arrangements of Ray Charles' Georgia, I Can't Stop Lovin' You, and What I Say were performed by the orchestra conducted by Bruce Morton Wright with Steve Swanson on vocals. 06.15.04 • I'm playing trombone in the Dave Rivello Ensemble every Thursday night through July at the Montage Grille, Rochester, NY. Showtime at 8:30 pm.

06.01.04 • Another season of Bemus Bay Pops begins on June 27th. Steve Swanson will sing and Bruce Wright will conduct my arrangements of Stormy Monday Blues, God Bless the Child, and Everyday I Have the Blues.
Sunday, June 27th, Bemus Point on Lake Chautauqua, New York.

06.01.04 • Trombonist Harry Watters performed my arrangement of Night & Day with the U.S. Army Blues Jazz ensemble at the International Trombone Festival. at Ithaca College on Friday, June 18th.

05.20.04 • On May 16, 2004, I received my M.M. degree from Eastman, and was awarded the Raymond and Maxine Schirmer Prize in Jazz Composition.

05.10.04 • The 3rd annual Rochester International Jazz Festival will take place from June 4th thru the 12th. I'll be performing in a FREE concert with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble in the Eastman Theatre, with trumpeter Clay Jenkins as our guest soloist. We'll also be performing my arrangement of Chick Corea's Litha.
Sunday, June 6th at 8 pm, Eastman Theatre. Free.

03.15.04 • I will be playing trombone in the Eastman Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra on April 7, perfoming in Frank Zappa's Dupree's Paradise, conducted by Brad Lubman.

03.10.04 • My Graduate Recital is rapidly approaching... which will feature small group settings of Spiral Song and a piece dedicated to my wife, Kathryn. The Eastman Jazz Ensemble will be featured on my arrangements of Litha, Sidewinder, Passion Flower, and Moontrane. Soloists will be Brian VanArsdale, Mark Filsinger, Clarence Hines, Matt Vashlishan, and others.

03.10.04 • The Graduate Recital program will also be performed at Roberts Wesleyan College on Thursday, April 1, and will also feature pianist Joe Santora.

02.25.04 • The premier of my Spiral Song for orchestra opens the Eastman Studio Orchestra concert. Also featured on this concert is the great Bob Brookmeyer, playing valve trombone and conducting his massive work for String Quartet and Orchestra.
