Kathryn Scarbrough, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Flute Performance from Towson State University.

 

She has appeared throughout the U.S. as an active performer, educator, and guest clinician. From 1997 to 1999, Ms. Scarbrough performed as principal flutist in the Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, and the Flute/Piano Recital Duo of the U.S. Marine Corps Band -- Quantico, Virginia. Since then, she has performed on programs such as "Live From Hochstein (WXXI FM91.5 Rochester, NY)," the Hochstein School of Music and Dance Faculty Spotlight Series, and numerous guest artist recitals.

 

A committed educator, Mrs. Scarbrough's flute students successfully compete at state, national, and international levels and receive scholarships at nationally ranked collegiate music programs throughout the U.S.

 

Mrs. Scarbrough has been the recipient of a full Board of Regents Scholarship from Arizona State University School of Music, the "Most Outstanding Graduate in Music (1994)" award from Towson State University, and the Peabody Preparatory "Award of Achievement (1986)" from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Her teachers have included Trygve Peterson and Sara Nichols.

 

Currently, Kathryn Scarbrough is the Assistant Dean of Students, Co-Chair of the Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion Department, and Flute Faculty at the David Hochstein Memorial School of Music and Dance in Rochester, NY. She also serves as Competition Chair for the Rochester Flute Association, Inc., and is an active member of the National Flute Association, Inc.
